Synopsis: Children's film set in County Cork, Ireland in the 1970s. Two rival gangs of boys, the Ballys and the Carricks are at war with each other and show their various victories over each other by cutting off the buttons from the clothes of their foes...Synopsis: Adaptation of the novel "La guerre des boutons" by Louis Pergaud, which transposes the setting from provincial France in the 1940s to Cork, Ireland in the 1970s. Two rival gangs of boys, the Ballys and the Carricks, from historically opposed villages, are at war with each other. They show their respective victories by cutting off the buttons from the clothes of their enemies.
